Low Testosterone What It Is and How to Treat It

Poor sleep

Low testosterone (also known as testosterone deficiency or “low T”) is a common medical condition for men. More than 13 million men are thought to have lot T yet unfortunately, only 10% of them will seek treatment. Despite the lack of awareness about low T, it is a serious medical issue that should be treated immediately if diagnosed. Low T is defined as having a total testosterone level of 300ng/dL or less. If left untreated, low testosterone can lead to serious problems including increased body fat, loss of muscle mass, lack of focus, lack of energy, poor sleeping, anxiety, and depression. In some cases, low T may reduce life expectancy.

Low T is nothing to trifle with or brush off. The effects can be devastating. Doctors aren’t sure what exactly causes low T. Some proposed causes include a lack of exercise, genetics, endocrine disorders, and damage to the testes. No matter what the reason is, though, men with low T should have it tested and treated as soon as possible. Some men brush off the possibility of low T because male testosterone levels naturally peak and then decline around age 30. Men that exhibit symptoms of low T often fail to recognize what it actually is.

Fortunately, there are many low T experts throughout the country that can correctly identify low T. They also have treatments to help those with the condition. One option, testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), is a popular and effective way of combating low T. What is TRT? TRT is a treatment that increases testosterone levels by introducing synthetic hormones to the body. These hormones are administered in a variety of ways: injections, pills, gels, creams, and even small pellets embedded under the skin! Regardless of its administration, TRT has been shown to significantly improve the quality of patient’s lives.

If you notice symptoms such as a lack of focus or poor sleeping, considering getting tested for low T.
