Most of us have our ears checked at regular primary care check-ups, but the ENT will go much further in-depth with their examination. Here are a few things to expect when visiting the ear doctor.
First, your doctor will go over your entire medical history.

Next, your doctor will typically perform a comprehensive head and neck examination. This examination will involve a look into your nasal cavity and sinus passages and larynx. The doctor will look for any abnormalities. The doctor will usually spray your nose with a topical decongestant and anesthetic to make the procedure as comfortable as possible. In some cases, a camera will be inserted in the nasal cavities to get a deeper and more comprehensive look inside.
This examination can feel slightly uncomfortable or unnerving. Try to remain calm, take deep breaths, and remind yourself that this is a very routine procedure.
