Modern orthodontics offers a variety of treatment methods. This video will discuss the differences between two of those options: clear and metal braces.
Metal braces are the most common type of braces. They are durable and strong, tried and tested, and can be customized with different colors. You have to be very diligent with cleaning your teeth as food is easily trapped in them.
You also need to avoid hard and sticky foods. Also, it’s important to wear a mouth guard if you are involved in athletics while wearing metal braces.
Clear, or ceramic, braces are just as effective as metal braces and blend in with the teeth, making them less noticeable. Early clear braces would stain due to a rubber band that was necessary, but modern clear braces do not face this problem.
As with metal braces, you still need to be diligent about cleaning teeth and wearing proper oral protection during sports. Make sure to ask your orthodontist if there’s a price difference for metal or clear braces.
